Working Mechanism and Applications of Deflocculants

Introduction: the regulatory center of mud rheology

In the production of sanitary ceramics, how to obtain the most fluid mud with the least amount of water? This is a watershed measure of the technical level of the plant. Decoagulant plays a vital role, it not only affects the efficiency of grouting, but also directly determines the compactness of the body.

As a leader in independent research and development of high-pressure grouting equipment,We believe that the scientific application of coagulants is the cornerstone of automated, high-precision production.

I. the working mechanism of the decoagulant: beyond the simple "dispersion"

The role of the decoagulant is essentially to change the physicochemical properties of the surface of the clay particles. Its core mechanism follows the classical DLVO theory:

Electrostatic Repulsion: Decoagulants (such as sodium silicate or sodium polyacrylate) dissociate in water,Its anions are adsorbed on the surface of clay particles, which significantly increases the Zeta potential of the particle surface. The increase in charge density produces a strong electrostatic repulsive force, which overcomes the van der Waals attraction between the particles and dissolves the agglomerates.

Ion Exchange: High-performance decoagulants can exchange,The "fluidization" of the slurry is achieved by displacing divalent metal ions such as calcium and magnesium in the clay that thicken the slurry ".

II. Core parameters and control points

In Sunland's laboratory, we evaluated the effects of the decoagulants in three key dimensions:

Critical Deflocculation point (Deflocculation Curve): Insufficient addition will cause the Viscosity of the slurry to be too high,Unable to pump; And excessive (Over-deflocculation) will lead to "back thick" or sagging, and even cause Green Body to crack when drying.

Thixotropy regulation: The ideal mud should have moderate thixotropy. The combination of decoagulants ensures that the slurry remains low in viscosity while flowing, and that a stable gel structure is quickly formed after movement is stopped, preventing sedimentation.

Solid Content of mud: Through scientific decoagulation, Senlant has successfully stabilized the solid content of high-pressure grouting mud between 68% and 72%.

III. original insights: the effect of coagulation agent on the life of high pressure grouting mold

This is a view that is often overlooked by the industry. The choice of the decoagulant is not only related to the slurry, but also related to the cost of the mold.

Although the cost of traditional sodium silicate (water glass) is low, the sodium ion in it is in the long-term High-Pressure grouting (High-Pressure Casting) cycle,Crystals are easily precipitated in the pores of the resin mold, resulting in mold clogging and reduced drainage performance. Sunland's recommendation: In the high-end production line, we recommend the use of low-sodium or sodium-free organic decoagulants. This can not only prolong the service life of the mold by 15%-20%, but also reduce the excessive introduction of flux in the subsequent Firing stage,Reduce the deformation rate of the product.
